Explanation of Identified Instructional Strategies
Why Did I Select These Strategies to Utilize in my Lesson?
I chose these two strategies because they both helped meet the objectives for the lesson. These strategies create the opportunity for students to fully understand the vocabulary presented with two very different styles of learning represented.
The Graphic Organizer for Analogies strategy works really well to assist students in really understanding the definition of the vocabulary words. To be able to complete the analogies students must be able to know what the word means and be able to relate that definition to other word definitions.
The Wallpaper Poster strategy differentiates learning for students and allows them to get creative. It also assists student learning because students really have to learn about the topic that they do their poster on. Also, viewing other students posters will provide more information on more topics.
The Benefits of These Strategies Over Others.
These two strategies benefited the lesson over any of the other strategies because:

The Benefits of These Strategies Over Others.
These two strategies benefited the lesson over any of the other strategies because:
- These two strategies worked well together within my lesson because they are two very different strategies. It gives students who have different learning styles something that they may like. Because of that, students may learn the concepts more effectively.
- The analogies are great for student learning because a student's comprehension of vocabulary improves greatly if they are able to use those words in analogies.
- The Wallpaper Poster strategy is great for this lesson because it allows students to tie the vocabulary word with meaning through words and pictures.
Possible Cons or Barriers That I May Encounter From the Utilization of These Strategies
Students may not learn effectively from the strategies I have chosen because:
- The analogies may be difficult for students because they are comparing things that may not have any relation to each other at all. If this happens, the teacher can demonstrate more simple analogies to help students understand.
- The Wallpaper Posters could have a barrier in that students will only really master their own word while not being able to understand the rest of the students' math vocabulary posters. If this happens, additional vocabulary review may be necessary.

Why Did I Select These Strategies to Utilize in my Lesson?
I choose the three strategies for my lesson because they help meet the objectives of the lesson. These strategies give students the best chance to learn the material taught in this lesson.
The Foldables note taking strategy is a great learning tool for students. It allows students to get the most important, valuable information when they are presented with a lot. They can keep the main equations and methods organized. It also can be added to at any point if students would like to add more to their notes.
The Ranking Ladder strategy works well for this lesson because it helps students synthesis the information that is presented before moving on to more activities. It assists students in determining what is important.
The Tea Party strategy is an effective way to start wrapping up the lesson because it helps to go over any unanswered questions or anything that students still struggle with. They also get to work cooperatively with their classmates and it helps to establish a community of learners. Students collaborate to fully understand the material presented to them and will get different perspectives.

The Benefits of These Strategies Over Others.
These strategies all work toward making this lesson the best that it can be because:
- All of the strategies work together well to help students process the large new load of information that they are receiving.
- The Foldables is an interesting and creative way for students to take notes. It is a great organizing tool for math especially when we are dealing with graph representations and notes.
- The Ranking Ladder helps in this specific lesson because there is more than one way to complete the math problems. It will help each student to determine the way that they learn best and can solve the problems correctly.
- The Tea Party strategy fits because sometimes students will understand things better from a peer explanation than from the teacher. They also can get all of their questions answered in a timely manner and it ensures that students can explain what they have learned.
Possible Cons or Barriers That I May Encounter From the Utilization of These Strategies
Students may not learn effectively from the strategies I have chosen because:
- Students may not cooperate in filling out their Foldables notes in an effective organized manner. Students may choose to take notes another way that they discuss with me if they fin d that the Foldables method is not effective for them.
- The Ranking Ladder could result in students getting confused about other students steps. Students can have different methods that work for them. The teacher needs to encourage students to write what is true for them. Sometimes there will be a right and wrong answer and class discussion should help lead students to comprehension. Additional help from the teacher may be required.
- The Tea Party Strategy will not be effective if the majority of the class is confused with the content. If this happens, additional instruction will be needed before continuing with the strategy
